What is Online Security?

An online security means protecting your system and yourself against any attacks that could happen in a network, especially during and after you use the internet. Internet is the largest network as of now, and it contains different threats that could harm you and your system without you knowing any of it.

Some of the examples of activities that could harm you while you are doing something online are:

  • Hacking - refers to someone unauthorized can access your system, accounts and any websites. When you say unauthorized, she or he is someone you dont know and is not a part of your organization but he or she could see your files, data and any other confidential information.
  • Malware - any malicious software that could harm your computer by deleting, duplicating and moving your files. Malwares like trojans can be used by hackers to gain access to your system.
  • Identity Theft - in an online world, thefts or people who could steal your identity are also there. They could use your name and other personal data to gain money, services and goods from people who know you.

Online security can prevent these things. You can start by educating yourselves on these threats so you would know which way you can use to prevent these to victimize you and other people important to you. You can also use software like firewall and antivirus to prevent malware and hackers into accessing your data.
